The thing that first got me into fashion was the thought that when you are getting dressed everyday, you are deciding how you want to present yourself to the entire world. What are you saying with your outfits? Are you expressing your individual style or have you become a carbon copy of the mannequins in store windows? Fashion, to me, is supposed to adventurous. Am I dressed like a superstar everyday? Hardly, but more times than not, I like to try to incorporate lots of different things into my outfit. If I’m wearing a cardigan, tank and pair of jeans, I’ll try to spice it up with statement jewelry or a fierce pair of heels. Just a little touch to take something that is so everyday and make it that much more special.
That brings me to SharDann.
The essence of SharDann is funky, diverse, exciting and sexy. We believe personal style is often a declaration of one’s unique spirit. What’s Your Individuality?
What I love about this line is that while it may not be to everyone’s taste, the designer has a point of view. She is not afraid to take chances and put together some outfits and combinations that at first glance, may make you scratch your head. Thats what its supposed to do. That is the precise reason I love designers like Martin Margiela and Gareth Pugh. You may have to take 3 or 4 glances before you understand what it is. Even then, you still may not get it but thats okay. Everything is not for everybody. Would I wear a lot of these outfits? …probably not. But there are pieces in the collection that could be amazing when paired with other things.
At the end of the day, I just want something a bit more edgy, a little more structured, and a bit more rugged. Something that makes me take that 3rd of 4th glance. That’s all that I ask for in my fashion. That’s it.
SharDann currently goes up to a size 22. You can check out more of her collections at her website and myspace page.
