Yesterday was the day. Forever21’s new plus size line Faith21 made its debut online and in select stores. I am one of the lucky ones that had the option to review the line instore at my local F21 in Pentagon City Mall. The store itself is massive but unlike a lot of other F21 stores, its actually spacious. There was a billboard in the entrance of the store promoting the new line and also little flyers were on various tables throughout. The line has its own section in the back of the store and is actually a decent size and very well lit.
Here’s some photos of the faith21 section of the store:
There were a lot of items in-store that weren’t on the website when it launched. The selection wasn’t that diverse, it was basically a lot of tanks, a few dresses and one skirt. They had the denim leggings and lace leggings (both of which I bought) and some accessories such as scarves and belts. I didn’t check out what size the belts were but I’ve read in other reviews that they went up to 2x.
Now for my verdict. In the last 24 hours or so, a lot has been written about the size chart that says a 2X = 15/16 which I agree, is crazy. However, about 97% of everything in the line stretches so it will definitely fit a wide range of bodies. I have to admit, everything they offered isn’t my cup of tea but I LOVE their tanks so I definitely stocked up on those. They’re light, slouchy and so perfect for the spring/summer months. The only thing I was disappointed with was that this skirt did not fit. That was what I really wanted but just by looking at it, I knew it was not going over my hips. I’m curious as to see what else the line will offer in the coming weeks. So while I wasn’t overwhelmed, I wasn’t as drastically underwhelmed as others. Its a step in the right direction. There were a lot of women there and the consensus was “Its about time!” so we’ll see how well it does in the initial launch. Hopefully it will then be rolled out into all of the other stores across the country. I’ll definitely keep my eyes open in the coming weeks.
Here are a few quick shots of some of the things I bought. Better photos (and outfits!) coming later.
the strapless floral dress - 2x (not on the site yet but featured in the lookbook)
This a-line floral dress is my favorite purchase. It’s so springy that I just can’t help but feel good when I put it on. The bust on this dress is not made for the busty. Although it has smocking on the back of the bust area, I don’t know how much give it has for someone who is D-cup and over. The dress is actually knee-length but c’mon everyone knows I like short skirts lol.
This tee is not one of my favorites. I love the semi-sheer aspect of it but what I don’t care for is the length (on me). It stops right at my hips which I don’t care for. I’ll definitely wear it because the sheerness is perfect for those humid days but I think it will be worn tucked into a skirt.
I am a definite fan of the crochet tank trend. This pink-colored tank is made of stretchy knit which makes for a perfect slouchy fit. For some strange reason it has a band of elastic around the bottom which I’m not to fond of but other than that, thumbs up!
I’m not a fan of animal prints. Lets just put that out there now. However for some reason, I was still drawn to this tank. Its stretchy, slouchy and adds a bit of effortless pizazz to any summer outfit.
hahaha yes camel toe! who doesn’t love leggings? so perfect for those hungover mornings and summertime errands. some people don’t like leggings worn as pants, I don’t really care anymore. just wear a long tank/shirt to prevent camel toe.
I really don’t know why I bought this dress. I hate kimono-style dresses with a passion. I’m not too fond of the fit of this either. I’m pretty sure this is going back in exchange for something else.
