This blog contains the thoughts, loves, hates, rants and raves of a fashion crazy 23 year old girl in the nation’s capital. Just like tons of others, every month I excitedly flip through the month’s latest fashion mags admiring the work of Emmanuelle Alt, Kate Lanphear, John Galliano, Gareth Pugh, Marc Jacobs and the like with a big smile on my face. The only difference is, 95% of everything featured on those glossy pages are not made for women like myself who are not sized 10 and under. For women like us, we’re often only able to peek into the party from the behind the red ropes.

With the emergence of personal style blogs/bloggers as well as fabulous plus size ladies such as Adele, Beth Ditto, Mo’Nique, and America Ferrera, the once voiceless demographic is now being seen and heard. Retailers and labels are starting realizing that we are as fierce as our skinny cohorts and that dressing a size 20 isn’t as taboo as they once thought.

For someone like me, the fact that I cannot just go to the mall or log onto Brown’s and buy that new Alexander Wang dress (you know the mesh one with the black piping… ugh, AMAZING!) just makes getting dressed that much more fun. When your options are seemingly limited, how do you stand out and be as fabulous as everyone else around you? By not being afraid to take risks. Sometimes it works and sometimes its a big pile of fail. Thats okay though because the fun in fashion is in the experimentation. Its in the pushing of the boundaries. Every morning, getting dressed is another chance to try something new out and become someone different. 50’s Vixen? 90’s Grunge? 70’s Hippie? So tell me, who are you today?
